LAST NIGHTS, FIRST DAYS

By Julien Darras & Maxime Lindon

Julien DARRAS - director:

Director and screenwriter Julien Darras directed several short films about ten years ago, including The Brother (Pàlé Films, Les Films du Cygne), which won an award at the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival in 2010, and Le Bruit autour de Moi (TS Production, France Télévisions) in 2012. After spending several years running a company in the communications sector, he returned to filmmaking in 2024, teaming up with his longtime collaborator Maxime Lindon. Together, they co-wrote Holidays in Palestine (documentary, 59 minutes), followed by Last nights, first days (short film, 2025, Les Films du Cygne), and are now developing La dernière des folles, a fiction feature film born from the Fémis writing workshop. The story is set at the heart of a foster family.

Maxime LINDON - director:

Self-produced in 2024 with Julien Darras with the post-production support from the CNC, the documentary Holidays in Palestine marks Maxime Lindon’s directorial debut in cinema. The film was notably screened at the États Généraux du Documentaire in Lussas in 2024. This was followed in 2025 by the co-direction, again with Julien Darras, of the fiction short film Last Nights, First Days, supported by the CNC and the Pays de la Loire region.

Synopsis: José, 64 years old and formerly homeless, gains access to an apartment on the outskirts of a city through a charitable organization. As deep loneliness begins to set in, José welcomes Marius, his longtime companion from the streets, for one night…
